I GOT AN A- ON MY FIRST HALF OF MY THESIS!!!!!!!
We got our grades back today on BlackBoard and I got an A on my last paper! Bringing to an A- in the class!!!!!!
My victory dance in a nutshell...
However..the nerdy-perfectionist in me thinks...I WISH IT WAS AN A.
But, the other part of me thinks, YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
My friend Kristina, who just finished and submitted her thesis, got her grade back today and she got an A!! SOOOO HAPPY FOR HER! And she even made me feel better because apparently no one gets an A in their first half, so that makes me grateful for my A-. Especially because she got an A- in her first half too, and since we're pretty much the same person, I'm hopeful that I'll get an A when I finish too! YAY! I have to admit though...I'm sad that I won't have my late night thesis buddy anymore! She kept me going for a long time and now I'm going to be flying Han Solo. That's okydoky though, I'm just so grateful that I had her there for support during those late nights for the toughest part...
I was SUPER DUPER POOPER scared about what Daniela would say about my theory section of my lit review. I HATE THEORY, especially writing about it, which is why I had such a meltdown. What would take a normal person maybe a day or two to write about, took me 3 weeks. NO JOKE. I just don't have the confidence that I can read about a theory, understand it, and write about it. I felt like whatever I wrote would sound completely stupid and not make sense, not giving the proper level of explanation and emphasis that a theory should have. I think just the word 'theory' intimidates me because it's so...I don't know, important? In my mind, theories are like...whoa. Someone super smart was so awesome to analyze a situation and make a theory about it that is so great, it has been tested and used in research. That to me is just...whoa. And there are SOOOOOO many components to theories. That's kind of where my meltdown started. I started to read about my theory I used in my thesis, and become so engaged with all of the components that I started to discover all sorts of different components within components within factors within facets, etc. etc. etc. this is where I went CRAZY. And then they use all this technical fancy pants smart people jargon that I'm just like...wha?? So I have to look it up, then figure out how I can say it in my paper without sounding like an idiot. Thus...3 weeks haha. But all in all, it's over with. Daniela liked my theory section...THANK GOD... and I hopefully won't have to write about a theory like that ever again.
I'm even glad to say that I barely touched my thesis this past week! I pretty much just slept...a lot...even though I know that I won't ever really catch up on the enormous amount of sleep lost. I spent a lot of time at home, which was nice. I got to do things that I've been really putting off, like cleaning my room, scrubbing the spot on my floor that Izzy likes to pee on (ew), and some other stuff. I even made an avocado face mask and gave myself an oil treatment for my hair! I figure if I'm going to not work out and lose sleep, I should try my best to keep my face nice and moisturized.
And on the topic of working out...whoa. I haven't worked out in quite a while. I ran on Sunday and worked out today, but seriously, my body is feeling it...
Either way, I'm off to my second half!! Daniela gave me the go ahead for my focus groups. So this Thursday I'm conducting my pretest. This is gonna give me a feel for what it will be like to do my actual focus groups as well as see how long it'll run in case I need to cut it down. I'm SO lucky cause we're going to have it at Paul's house, which will be a good open space to hold the focus group.
I'm nervous/excited to see how it goes. I've never held a focus group before, and definitely never had one in front of my friends. So we'll see! It's being taped too so we can't mess around. Or say words that I like to say like...duty...poo...poopoo...meh...poopoocray...etc. Which will obviously be the hardest part for me.
It's also going to be hard to focus and not get too emotional or stay objective. That's the sign of a good moderator though so hopefully I'll do okydoky!
I just can't believe I'm halfway done. That last week of getting my thesis turned in was...to say the least...a whirlwind of poopoocray. Poo literally hit the fan and went everywhere in my mind. But that's all behind me now and I'm just SO glad that I'm (hopefully) over the hump!!
On a side note...DIANA AND CLAY HAD THEIR BABY!! Beautiful Katie Grace Pardue is here :) She was born on July 25 in the wee hours of the mornin! It was weird because I prayed for them at 4:44am that morning (seeing as I'm usually awake, writing, at those hours) and that's apparently when Diana was in the middle of labor!! I'm SO happy that she's here and with her amazing parents. Words can't express the amount of love that this little girl already has from everyone around her and the happiness she's brought to their faces. I just can't wait to meet Katie!!
I also have my first chiropractor appointment tomorrow!
My mom and I found a way for us to be able to get it covered by insurance. So I'm excited to start the process that will hopefully help my back and not make me lopsided!
Alrighty...
and giggles and hugs,
ME!
